Dig A Dino Kit II, Triceratops

Use the included tools to carefully dig around and brush off the bones that are hidden within the plaster block. Once you've excavated all of them, assemble the new-found skeleton of a Triceratops and place it on the display platform for everyone to see.  The fossils of the first Triceratops were discovered by the American paleontologist Othniel Charles Marsh, between 1887-1889. Capable of reaching weights between 6.1-12.0 tonnes (13,000-26,000 pounds), the Triceratops had a large, bony frill that protrude from the back of its neck, and three large and distinctive facial horns. Its name, Triceratops, means "three-horned face". When it was first discovered in Denver, Colorado, and originally thought to be belong to a large and unusual bison, which Marsh named Bison alticornis. While an earlier specimen was discovered by Edward Drinker Cope in 1872, it was originally identified as a Hadrosaur, and consisted only of post-cranial remains, and is only provisionally considered as an example of a Triceratops because of that.
