Practice chanters are used by people who are learning to play the bagpipe and by experienced pipers. The practice chanter is played using the same fingering as the pipe chanter and it also uses a double blade reed like the pipe chanter. But the practice chanter is a lot quieter and takes a lot less effort to play than the pipe chanter.
