Flensted Mobiles are a traditional handicraft in Denmark. The first modern designer mobile was made there in 1954. Today Flensted Mobiles is based on the Danish island of Funen, the birthplace of Hans Christian Anderson, where it creates its very own design fairy tales from the old village school in Brenderup. Hans Christian Andersen is know from his fairy tales, but he also loved to cut silhouettes with his big scissors, this mobile is made from his design. He made a little story about hot air balloons, in 1853, inspired by the Frenchman Henri Giffard who flew 25 km from the hippodrome in Paris to Trappes.
