This is a classic strainer commonly known as "Villa e'Este". The spring, all around the edge of the strainer is designed to fit into different sized shakers and prevents any ice or other ingredients from passing through. The double series of raised tabs, corresnponding with the position of the forefinger, allow a perfect grip when pouring.
