Jackie Robinson Presents Hunter's Star (2009)

HUNTER'S STAR - This charming project has the appearance of being quite complex while in reality it's truly easy with Jackie's method of construction. It's an old-time, traditional, design - once made only with templates. No longer that labor intensive, you'll use your rotary cutter and standard rulers, along with careful 1/4" seams to create your own masterpiece using two or more fabrics. Two or more?? It's primarily a TWO fabric quilt - a light and a dark - with good contrast. However, you may also choose to use a variety of prints in each of two colors, maintaining similar values in each. Or, you might decide to play with the design and create special effects either with consistent star colors on two backgrounds, or enjoy value shading across the quilt. Lots of choices make this a spectacular design wall project.

The main construction process shown on this DVD is the traditional two fabric process. A discussion of how to work with variations is included. To make it even better, Jackie shows an outstanding method of final block construction that guarantees an always beautifully flat quilt top with perfectly matched corners.

The lesson ends with a demo of successful mitered corners on the binding.
