Karl Fazer was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1866 and discovered his love of creating taste sensations from a very early age. His parents had moved to Finland from Switzerland and started a family fur business before he was born. Instead of joining the family business, Karl Fazer decided to become a confectioner against his father's wishes. He studied baking in Berlin, Paris and Saint Petersburg before opening a French-Russian confectionery café at Kluuvikatu 3 in Helsinki on 17 September 1891. Today, all Fazer's confectionary products are made in Finland and there are factories dotted around the country with chocolate production in Vantaa, sugar confectionery in Lappeenranta, and gum and pastilles in Karkkila.

Fazer is one of the few chocolate manufacturers that still uses fresh milk in its production.

When Karl Fazer launched the Karl Fazer Milk Chocolate in 1922, he chose Arriba cocoa from Equador for the manufacturing - simply because it was the best-quality cocoa available. This is why Arriba is still used in their chocolate. The basic flavor of Arriba cocoa must be flowery, fruity and nut-like.

The Karl Fazer Milk Chocolate, also known as Fazer Blue, is part of the Finnish cultural heritage. The iconic Fazer's milk chocolate first appeared in 1922 in its famous blue wrapper symbolising the pure Finnish nature. It is the chocolate that many Finns have grown up with and has turned them into chocolate lovers. The blue wrappings conceal a velvety, soft chocolate delight. Karl Fazer milk chocolates are always a welcome surprise!
