At 12 inches across, this beautiful and versatile block puzzle is Grimm's largest Goethe Circle. 24 wooden blocks in 8 vibrant rainbow colors rest in a circular wooden frame. The spiral design represents the Color Wheel, and is based on Goethe's Theory of Colors. The pieces can be used to create designs and patterns either in or out of the frame, and also as building blocks. The easy-to-manipulate shapes are almost an inch thick (2 cm), making this an excellent choice for younger children. Encourages the feeling for colors and forms in play, three-dimensional thinking and inspires the imagination.
Solid European hardwood is hand-finished to remove all sharp edges/corners, then colored with non-toxic, water based, child-safe dyes. Spiel Gut ("Good Toy") award winner, which recognizes high quality, ecologically sensible toys.
Inspired by the educational philosophies of Rudolf Steiner (called "Waldorf" education in the US), Grimm's Spiel & Holz Design is about the rainbow, happy colors, creativity, and the imagination. Grimm's creates heirloom quality puzzles, building sets, dolls, and more. Parents love Grimm's because designs by this German company advance creativity, leaving room for independent play through simple shapes and vibrant colors. Grimm's intent is to develop long-lasting toys that help children discover and develop their own creativity. There are no instructions, and you can do no wrong with a Grimm's toy. Just play, learn, and enjoy!
Remarks about Grimm's Colors:
You may notice some color transference on the blocks. This is not considered a defect as the blocks are unlacquered. Grimm's does not use lacquer in order to preserve the natural feel of the wood (which is in line with their aim to design toys according to principles of Waldorf and Montessori education). Unlacquered blocks are also easier to build with as they are less likely to slip.
